PGCC Library Mission

The Prince George’s Community College Library supports the mission of the College through provision of space where students and the college community can interact physically and virtually; collections in all formats that support research and teaching; and instruction in information literacy, which empowers students with tools for academic success and lifelong learning.

Library Strategic Goals FY 2017-18

Goal: Create avenues for academic success 

FY17 Objectives 

  • Assess students’ information literacy skills to determine effectiveness of library instruction
  • Assess students’ critical thinking skills to determine effectiveness of library instruction
  • Improve students’ information literacy skills through electronic means

FY18 Objectives

  • Improve students’ information literacy skills (SCC4) through  instruction sessions (Completion)
  • Assist students in entering a career pathway by providing opportunities for career exploration (Pathways)
  • Improve student success by implementing Largo-based student success initiatives, from the library, at the extension centers.
