Computers & Wireless Network

Public Workstations

Computer Area

The PGCC Library offers over 30 computers for use by students and other library patrons. These computers are located on the first floor near the information service desk. The computers provide access to all PGCC electronic resources, including the Library's catalog, e-books, and research databases. Users will need to log in with their Owl Link ID and password. Library staff at a service desk may login patrons if ID and password are not available.

Computer use is first-come-first-served. There is no sign-up or time limit; however, priority is given to those who need use of the computers for research purposes as opposed to recreational use.

  • touchscreen scanner is available on the first floor. Patrons are able to scan books and documents into searchable PDF, Word doc, JPEG with the click of a button. Send scanned files to email, smartphone, tablet as well as Google Drive at no cost. Fees for printing scans are: 10 cents black & white and 25 cents for color.

Wireless Networking

A wireless network is available in the PGCC library to provide access to the Internet. Connecting to the Internet requires a wireless-enabled device. A brochure on how to access the Library's wireless network may be obtained at the Circulation Services or Reference Information Desk.

Using Windows XP or 7:

1. Most computers should detect the signal automatically and notify you that it is available. If it is, left-click the wireless icon in the system tray, then select: PGCC-AIR and Connect

2. If Step 1 does not work, configure the computer manually by completing the following steps:

a. Click Start - Settings - Network Connections

b. Right-click Wireless Network - Properties

c. Click the Wireless Networks tab View Wireless Networks, then highlight PGCC-AIR

d. If the Wireless Networks tab is not available, then right-click the Wireless Network icon from the previous window - enable. Then repeat steps (b) and (c)

e. Click the Connect button and continue anyway if prompted

f. The screen should read PGCC-AIR is connected. Close all open windows.

3. Once connected to the network, open your Internet browser. It should immediately redirect you to the Portal Login page.
