Internships, Volunteer and Working Abroad Opportunities

Internships and Cooperative Education

Internships and Cooperative Education provide students with on-the-job training related to their academic or career major. Students combine their studies with curriculum-related employment in business and government agencies. By supplementing classroom learning with practical work, students can obtain a more realistic and meaningful education experience. Internships help students:

  • Receive a realistic orientation to the world of work
  • Acquire skills needed to succeed in a job
  • Experience corporate cultures
  • Explore a particular field to reinforce a career choice
  • Apply classroom theory in a work setting
  • Develop professional work habits and skills

Students who want to participate in the Internship or Cooperative Education program are required to be enrolled as a student at PGCC. They must have already completed 15 college credits, six of which must be in their major. Participants are required to maintain a GPA of at least 2.0, and they are expected to attend an orientation session and be available to meet with a career advisor for referrals to positions.
