Tutoring

The Tutoring Center provides instructional support to all credit students. Services include individual tutoring by appointment, walk-in assistance (when a tutor is available), guided small-group study sessions, and assistance for related computer software. Call 301-546-0748 to make an appointment.

Smarthinking is an online tutoring service that Prince George's Community College is making available to its students. Smarthinking provides tutoring in a variety of subjects, some of which are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!

Marlboro English Learning Lab


Over 50 computers are available for students to conduct research, compose paragraphs, essays and research papers, and drop in to print documents to the PGCC lab printers. Edmentum is also available on the computers for EGL 0080 and 0090 students to complete their required modules. Textbooks are available for EGL 0080 and 0090 student use within the lab, but they may not be removed from the lab. Copies of a number of different novels that are used in EGL lower level courses are also available and can be read in the lab. Technicians and the Coordinator are available for assistance. A current college photo ID is required to use the lab.

The Writing Center offers tutoring for all students who are working on any writing assignment in any course. Faculty tutors work with students one-on-one on all phases of the writing process. Tutors help students generate ideas, develop and support thesis statements, organize material, integrate and document sources, and refine sentences. In addition, grammar specialists are available to address grammar and style issues at the sentence level.
