Exhibition Guidelines

All artists are required to work from the following guidelines:

Artists must be 18 years of age or older.

Eligible Works: 1) Open to all media. 2) 2D Compositions- Panels must not exceed 72" in any direction. 3) 3D Compositions- Must not exceed 18" of depth. 4) Time-based- .mov, .mp4, .gif, or HTML files required. Our monitors will be limited to retired classroom Macs with a 21.5” display. Artists are also permitted to install their own media. 

Application Materials: 1) Work Samples- Up to 8 images of work and/or 4 minutes of audio/video. 2) Work Sample Index- Include artwork title, date, size, materials, sale price (or Not for Sale) and insurance value. Please be certain image list corresponds with slide order. 3) Artist Statement- One page maximum. 4) CV/Resume- One page maximum. 5) Contact Information- Legal name, address, phone, website. Note: JPEGs should be no larger than 1MB each, and labeled LastName­_FirstName-#.jpg. Submit time-based and interactive work via Web link. Please note: The deadline has been extended to Fall 2017. Stay tuned for details. 

ShippingArtists accepted into the exhibition are responsible for the transportation of work to and from Prince George’s Community College. If shipping, please include return shipping labels and bills with your work.

Sales: Prince George’s Community College Galleries at the Library retains no commission for the sales of artwork and does not handle transaction of sales. If parties are interested to purchase works on exhibit, the library will exchange contact information between the prospective buyer and the artist; it will be the responsibility of the buyer and artist to negotiate the sale. The library will need confirmation from both the buyer and artist that the transaction has occurred, otherwise works will be returned to the artist.

Installations: All works must be received ready for installation- including already attached wires and/or D-rings. The Galleries at the Library will provide hooks, screws, and light anchors. Works that require cleats, clips, magnets, or other fastening or hanging implementations or instructions are the responsibility of the exhibiting artist to include with the work at the time of delivery. 

Refusal: The Galleries at the Library reserve the right to refuse works that do not resemble works submitted, or that are otherwise not ready for installation. The artist will be responsible to retrieve the work before the conclusion of the exhibition.

Agreement: All accepted works must remain for the duration of the exhibition, January 2017 to June 2017. Artists must be prepared to deliver or ship work by January 17, 2017. The Galleries at the Library reserve the right to photograph and distribute images of accepted works for publicity and educational purposes. The Galleries at the Library and the jurors reserve the right to reject works that differ from the submitted image, nor are they responsible for works left after the pick-up dates following the close of the exhibition. Submission of an entry constitutes understanding and agreement with the conditions set forth in this prospectus.
