Research Logs

Keep a log of your research process for an assignment/project. Log entries could include:

  • Descriptions of research sessions including their most productive (as well as least productive) searches (including any limits).
  • Record which database tools were used as well as best keywords or subject terms.
  • Reflections on how your approach to researching the topic potentially changed (or not) based on search results and 'reading' the search results.
  • Summarize pivot points during the research process where you decided to broaden or narrow the research topic.  Reflect on why and how you pivoted from the original question/thesis statement/topic.
  • Optional: Records a short, narrated screen recording of the database search, reflecting on what they learned during this process.
